I have some decals on already, as well, so I&#8217;m rockin&#8217; the &#8220;Real Type&#8221; style&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_overview.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_overview_thumb.png\" title=\"Overview\" \/><\/a><a href=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_decals_1.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_decals_1_thumb.png\"  title=\"Yeah, Zaku Lady! Numbers from the Bandai Zeon decal sheet, and red circles from an old Wave sheet cut and carefully placed to work on the spikes.\" \/><\/a><a href=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_decals_5.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_decals_5_thumb.png\"  title=\"Nothing says 'Real Type' like a big red rectangle on a part for no good reason. Keeping rectangles rectangular can be tricky - it's not made any easier by the fact that my line decals are old and have a tendency to break into smaller pieces once they're soaked. (Of course, on the original Real Type Zaku these particular rectangles were yellow...)\" \/><\/a><a href=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_decals_6.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"model-data\/1_100_Old_Zaku\/old_zaku_090313_decals_6_thumb.png\"  title=\"Again, I cannot stress enough the virtues of red rectangles.\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Now, unfortunately I had a bit of a setback around the end of last month and lost about a week&#8217;s worth of project time as a result.  See, I was cleaning the basement&#8230;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/cleaned_basement_1.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/cleaned_basement_1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Isn&#039;t that lovely?\" title=\"Isn&#039;t that lovely?\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-379\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But unfortunately the way I went about it was to shuffle all the stuff in the basement into other areas of the basement&#8230;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/dirty_basement_1.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/dirty_basement_1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Aack! Everything wound up in my space!\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-382\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/dirty_basement_2.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/dirty_basement_2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"It immediately became impossible to get anything done down here.\" title=\"It immediately became impossible to get anything done down here.\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-383\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The reason for this was that our old water heater had started leaking &#8211; water was seeping around under the carpet forming damp spots.  Fortunately I turned the water off and dehumidified the ever-loving crap out of the basement, and I apparently made it out of this with no mildew.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/water_heater.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/scope-eye.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/water_heater-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"This is the new water heater, which our plumber thoughtfully installed rather quickly, leaving us without hot water only a couple days.\" title=\"This is the new water heater, which our plumber thoughtfully installed rather quickly, leaving us without hot water only a couple days.\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-384\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d had to move everything out of certain areas of the basement so the plumber could get the old unit out and the new one in. Fortunately, the MMC deadline was extended (looks like I&#8217;ll probably be the only one to take advantage of this, though&#8230;  I swear, deadline extensions never work.
